Nordic Walking in Surrey

Surrey’s two highly trained Nordic Walking instructors, Jodechi and Eliot Morton, will guide participants through the simple technique with specially designed lightweight poles.

We hold weekly classes allowing anyone to try Nordic Walking in Surrey. The Nordic Walking classes are designed to increase fitness levels and improve overall health and well-being. All sizes, ages and fitness levels welcome.

If you would like to view the beautiful areas in which we teach our classes please visit our Nordic Walks section.  If you would like to join us on our Nordic Walking holidays please see our Holidays section. We are less than an hours drive from London and also local to both the market town of Dorking and the beautiful cathedral city of Guildford.

Originally from Finland, the sport was developed as a method for cross-country skiers to train during the off-season or when there was no snow. They found that walking with the help of special poles to propel the body with more power was a perfect way to stay in shape and also contributes towards enhanced balance and posture.

Walking naturally, Nordic Walking is an enhancement of normal walking, not a different movement.

Today, Nordic Walking attracts all-comers from the least physically fit to the serious fitness enthusiast. With the specially developed poles, Nordic Walking on average can burn more than 40% more calories than normal walking, as using your arms and legs through a greater range of motion than normal means you are increasing calorie expenditure and can be accurately described as a 'total body workout’; in fact 90% of the body's skeletal muscles are used, more than swimming, cycling and running. Bored with the gym? This might be the answer!

You may also be surprised about how hard your heart and lungs are working while feeling relatively comfortable - this lowered rate of perceived exertion (RPE) means you can work at a higher intensity for longer with more ease than many other types of exercise!

Whether it is for a bit of fun, fresh air or serious fast paced Nordic Walking; we have a class to suit you.
